An hour of procrastination and indecision consisting of shopping, menu hopping and waiting to feed the 30 min meter to avoid the evil wrath of the meter maid, Em and I finally decided to have happy hour at Noir Bar (No-ah Bah?) in Hahvahd Square.
Spinach, Bacon and Gruyere Dip with Pita
Background: Em and her Chardonnay
Foreground: My Sangria (Syrah, Ruby Port, Apricot Brandy, Peachtree Schnapps, Peach Puree, Splash of OJ, & a Splash of Soda)
In between: Watermelon Salad with Arugula, Goat Cheese, Toasted Sesame Vinaigrette and Crispy Pancetta
(Not pictured: Prosciutto and Pineapple Grilled Flatbread, with fresh mozzarella and tomato Sauce)
The Spinach dip was tasty; the pita was a nice thickness–not too I’m-going-to-break-with-every-dip-thin and not so thick that you have to overcompensate with a heaping scoop of dip. The salad was refreshing and the flavor combinations and textures worked nicely, although I’ve had better arugula salad medleys. The flatbread was mediocre–probably wouldn’t order it again. My sangria was lackluster as well, perhaps my punishment for ordering a Spanish drink at a French-named restaurant. The happy hour deal was recession friendly ($5 flatbreads $4 sandwiches $3 snacks $2 salads $1 sweets $0 nuts…wait a sec, I didn’t get free nuts!) so I would probably go back…or just play host at my place and invite friends for Tracy Hour 🙂
